Penn-Wheeling Closure now offers a 28/400 aluminum CT for the wine/liquor market. The VIN-GUARD® offers vineyards and wineries an alternative to natural and synthetic cork. VIN-GUARD® is a mechanical closure offering better sealing properties than conventional methods.

As a result of market interest and a two-year independent study, the VIN-GUARD® answers the need of vineyards and wineries with a superior alternative to cork. Conventional cork closures have been found to result in approximately 4 - 10% of wine produced annually being lost from either spillage or leakage or cork taint, which accounts for nearly 90% of all wine lost. Leakage is a result of improperly fitted corks or the cork prematurely drying causing the loss of wine during storage. Additionally, screw caps eliminate the threat of "cork taint" and premature oxidation. This allows the wine to mature, and the naturally occurring characteristics to develop, which are intended for the wine consumer.
VIN-GUARD® I offers an economical option to cork. VIN-GUARD® II
offers a premium upscale look with a smooth outer wall. Tamper evidence
is achieved by using a capsule or plastic shrink-wrap seal with either
VIN-GUARD® I or VIN-GUARD® II.
